Raw Cashew Nut

Cashew (anacardiumoccidentale) is an edible fruit or seed of the anacardiacese family. It derived its name from the Portuguese language, ‘caju’. It is a tropical and sub-tropical evergreen shrub or tree that grows where the soil is fertile and relatively humid.

It can grow up to 12m (14ft) in height. The cashew nut tree is mostly cultivated for its nuts: the raw cashew nut is gray in color with about 3mm thick shell, inside is the edible kernel covered by a light brown skin.. The tree, apart from being a bio-fuel also produces edible pear shape apple (the flesh) and bean shape nuts which could be about 2cm (1inch) long.

Palm Kernel Shell

The Palm Oil Plant (Elais Guinensis), considering its three different varieties Durà, Pesipherà and Tenerà, produces an edible fruit similar to an apricot which has inside a nut. During the crude palm oil process, the fruit’s flesh is melted through a steaming treatment.

The residual nuts are further mechanically crashed to extract the seeds or Kernels. The crashed shells are called Palm Kernel Shells (PKS), a virgin biomass with a high calorific value (NCVAR typical abt 3,800 Kcal/kg – ASTM D5865 – 02).

Palm Kernel Shells can be considered like a natural pellet and a high grade solid renewable fuel for burning, as received, both in co firing with steam coal or burned at biomass power plants, usually blended with other grades of biomass, like wood chips.

PACKAGING: Our Palm Kernel Shell is usually in 50 Kg PP bags for easy containerization.
